Mitchell knocked in her third homerun of the year in the Lady Raiders opening game as she took a pitch over the left field wall in the third inning to make the score 2-0. Middle Tennessee got on the board early in the bottom of the first inning when centerfielder Kip Phillips pulled a double steal as she swiped second and then stole home.
The Lady Raiders picked up their final run of the first game in the bottom of the fifth inning when UAB pitcher Alexis Kreske walked Muriel Ledbetter with the bases loaded. The three- bagger walk sent home Mitchell.

The second game was all UAB. The Blazers posted 15 runs on 14 hits and belted four homeruns.
Middle Tennessee looked in control of the game after the first inning, as the Lady Raiders posted three runs to answer UAB's two runs to open the game. Senior Megan Cherinka hit an RBI single to send home Mitchell for the first run and sophomore DeCamino hit her second homerun of the season in a two run shot that also sent home Cherinka.
After that is was all UAB as the Blazers scored one run in the second, two in the third and a whopping 10 runs in the fifth inning. Preator started the game and left when the score was tied 3-3. The Lady Raiders would insert three other pitchers before the game was over, but freshman Muriel Ledbetter picks up the loss and falls to 3-2.
