Deckard Records 23 Kills in Loss

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Junior KeKe Deckard recorded 23 kills, her second best kill total of the season, in the Middle Tennessee's (4-5) 3-1 (30-19, 31-29, 30-27, 28-30) loss to Indiana State (4-3) at the Purdue Tournament Friday.
The Lady Raiders opened the match with a first game burst as Middle Tennessee had 19 kills and a .308 hitting percentage as opposed to ISU's seven kills and .083 hitting percentage. Two close games followed as the teams came down to the wire in each game, but the Lady Raiders fell short.
Serving errors plagued the Lady Raiders as the team handed over 11 service errors to ISU. The team also recorded 22 errors.
Three other Lady Raiders recorded double figure kills as Andressa Lyra had 14, Dara McLean 13 and Karisse Baker tallied 12. Megan Sumrell again led the Lady Raiders in assists with 22.
The Lady Raiders return to action on Saturday when the team faces host Purdue at 12 p.m. and Mississippi State at 5 p.m.
