Blue Raiders Win Five-Game Thriller Over UALR

The victory places the Blue Raiders in two-way tie with Western Kentucky for second place in the Sun Belt East, after the Lady Toppers fell to Arkansas State 3-1 Friday night. Middle Tennessee faces Arkansas State on Sunday for a chance to take over first place in the East.
Middle Tennessee's their triple threat of KeKe Deckard, Dara McLean and Andressa Lyra paced the Blue Raiders. Deckard led the match with 21 kills and also recorded a season-high 21 digs. Lyra also registered a double-double with 17 kills and 20 digs. McLean added 18 kills for the Blue Raiders.
In the deciding game five, Middle Tennessee's Deckard put the match out of reach, starting her service with the game tied at 4 and turned it into a 13-4 lead. The Blue Raider run saw two McLean kills and four attack errors by the Trojans. The Trojans would pull to within five at 14-9, but a kill by Lyra would give the Blue Raiders the win.
The eight wins in the conference are the most by the Blue Raiders since joining the Sun Belt in 2000.
