Blue Raiders Shutout Third Straight Opponent

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Middle Tennessee volleyball (15-5, 6-1 SBC) had a victorious homecoming on Friday, defeating Florida Atlantic (7-12, 4-5 SBC) 3-0 (30-22, 30-18, 30-24) in Alumni Memorial Gym.
The Blue Raiders returned home after a four-match road swing to begin a six-match home stand. The shutout over the Owls was the third straight Sun Belt opponent the club has held scoreless and the 11th overall this season.
"The shutouts have been huge for us," said Head Coach Matt Peck. "We got a bunch of them on the road and I expect to see a few at home."
Middle Tennessee hit above .300 for the third consecutive match notching a .339 attack percentage. The Blue Raiders held FAU to a .163 attack percentage.
"I think we ran a very balanced attack tonight," Peck said. "I think we played well as a team and did a good job passing."
The club had four players record double figure kills in the match. The Ashley's (Adams and Asberry) each had 11 kills and Jessica Robinson and Quanshell Scott had 10. Freshman setter Leslie Clark had 47 assists and fellow freshman Ashley Waugh recorded 10 digs.
Middle Tennessee returns to action on Sunday hosting Florida International at 1 p.m. The Panthers, who had been undefeated in the conference, fell to 8-1 in Sun Belt Conference play with a 3-2 loss to Western Kentucky. Currently, Middle Tennessee, FIU and Western Kentucky are in a tie for first place with one loss a piece.
