Men's Tennis Drops 4-0 Decision

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Boise State won the doubles point and the first three completed singles matches in a 4-0 victory over 36th-ranked Middle Tennessee Friday afternoon in the quarterfinals of the Blue-Gray National Tennis Classic in Montgomery, Ala.

Boise State, ranked 32nd, won at Nos. 2 and 3 in doubles and picked up victories at Nos. 1, 2 and 6 in singles for the victory.

In doubles BSU's Clancy Shields and Steve Robertson defeated Brandon Allan and Kai Schledorn, 9-7, at No. 2, and Pitriok Dilaj and Steve Robertson won 8-2 at No. 3 over Morgan Richard and Greg Pollack.

In singles 23rd-ranked Luke Shields defeated No. 47 Andreas Siljestrom, 7-6 (5), 6-1, at No. 1, and Thomas Schoeck won 6-3, 6-4, over Marco Born at No. 2. Brent Werbeck took care of Pollack, 6-3, 6-3, at No. 6.

"We have to find a way to play better on the big points," head coach Dale Short said. "When the match gets close, we don't seem to be enjoying the occasion."

The Blue Raiders get another shot at 56th-ranked Fresno State, who defeated Middle Tennessee, 6-1, on March 8 in Fresno, Calif. Full results from the event may be found at bluegraytennis.com.
