"This was a good win for us," said Head Coach Matt Peck. "The team was excited to play someone other than themselves and I saw a lot of positive things in the first match of the season."
Sophomore Ashley Adams led both teams with 10 kills and recorded a .412 attack percentage. She also had four block assists.
As a team, the Blue Raiders committed 19 errors and forced Radford to log in 30 errors to just 31 kills. Middle Tennessee ended the game with 43 kills.
Four newcomers, including three freshmen, saw action in the match. Transfer Jessica Robinson played in two games and recorded five kills. Sophomore Ashley Asberry led the squad with seven block assists and senior setter Megan Sumrell had 22 set assists. Junior Victoria Monasterolo led the club with 15 digs.
"Ashley Asberry had a really nice match," Peck said. "Overall I think we passed really well and that is what this team has to do since we have such strong hitters."
