WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Two members of the Middle Tennessee women's tennis team began play at the Wilson/ITA Southeast Regional Championships on Wednesday. · ITA Southeast Region Championships
Freshman Alex Dachos began pre-qualifying action by defeating Lucy Dougherty of UNC-Greenville 6-3, 5-7, 6-2. In the second round of action, Dachos fell to Amelia Harris of Louisville 6-2, 6-2. Then senior Andrea Herrera won her match 6-3, 6-3 over Linzie Mabrey of North Carolina. Herrera defeated Gardner Webb's Jenny Gomez in her second match 3-6, 7-5, 6-1 to advance to the qualifying draw. Herrera will play Valerie Behr of UNC-Greenville in the first round of qualifying play on Thursday, Oct. 23. Freshman Taylor Coffey will also begin qualifying action when she faces Maria Sorbello of Tennessee while teammate freshman Marietta Bigus play Jelena Durisic of North Carolina.
