MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Sarah Nambawa is the only Middle Tennessee trickster participating in this weekend's NCAA Championships in Fayetteville, Ark. Nambawa automatically qualified for the event with her record-setting mark in the triple jump three weeks ago.
Nambawa broke the school-record in the triple jump previously held by Andreja Ribac (2000). Nambawa's mark of 44-8.25 ranks fourth nationally this season, behind only Florida State's Kimberly Williams, Stanford's Erica McLain and UTEP's Blessing Okagbare.
Nambawa is the first Middle Tennessee female trackster to participate in the NCAA Indoor Championships since Rosemary Okafor in 2004.
The Middle Tennessee sophomore is set to participate in the triple jump at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday at the Randal Tyson Track Center on the University of Arkansas campus. Live results from the meet may be found at http://www.ladybacks.com/ViewArticle.dbml?&DB_OEM_ID=2300&ATCLID=1409007.
