MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Middle Tennessee's track teams look for better weather this weekend at the Tiger Track Classic in Auburn, Ala., after their last meet was cut short because of inclement conditions in Atlanta.
Even in the shortened Yellowjacket Invitational last weekend at Georgia Tech, sophomore Brittany Cox regionally qualified in the shot put with a personal-best mark of 48-3.5 and junior Samuel Adade won the 100-meters.
The men's and women's hammer throw will take place Friday afternoon at the Hutsell-Rosen Track on the Auburn campus. All of the other field events begin Saturday at 11 a.m. and the running events start Saturday 1 p.m.
"There are a bunch of teams in the meet, so it'll be really good competition," head coach Dean Hayes said. "We hope the weather will hold up a lot better after last weekend. We competed very well there last year even though the weather was very cold.
"We're just trying to get things together again this week like we have been. Our aim is, of course, the Sun Belt meet the second weekend of May. We won't do all of the individual events but we'll try and put some relays together this week. That'll be our main objective this week is the relays."
Teams scheduled to participate this weekend include Alabama, Arkansas, Army, Auburn, Bucknell, Clemson, Georgia Tech, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisiana-Lafayette, Middle Tennessee, Rend Lake CC, South Carolina, Tennessee, Tennessee State, Troy, Vanderbilt, Wallace State CC and Wisconsin.
Results will be posted after each event is final. Results may be obtained online at auburntigers.com via the track and field page or at deltatiming.com.
