BERLIN - Middle Tennessee track alum Tanko Braimah, class of 2003, ran the second leg of the 4x100 meter relay for his native Ghana at the IAAF World Championships on Friday, August 21 in Berlin, Germany.
The Ghanaian team finished fifth with a time of 39.61 in the second qualifying heat of the event. The country was not able to qualify for the 4x100 meter finals.
Braimah was the second Middle Tennessee athlete to compete in Berlin joining current Blue Raider Stanley Gbagbeke, who placed 27th in the long jump competition last week.
Braimah's career highlights at Middle Tennessee included winning the 200 meters at the 2001 Sun Belt Indoor Championships and running the fifth fastest 200-meter time in school history. He also ran the 4x100 meter relay in the 2000 and 2004 Olympic Games for Ghana.
