Men's golf seeking first win of spring at Rio Pinar

ORLANDO, Fla. - The 32nd ranked Middle Tennessee men's golf team will step back into action on Monday at the Rio Pinar Invitational. UCF will host this year's event at the Rio Pinar Country Club on a track that covers 7,001 yards and is a par 72.
The 54-hole event will begin with 36 holes on Monday and conclude with 18 holes on Tuesday. UCF is the defending champion after shooting a 13-under par 851 in 2009.
The 18-team field includes six teams ranked in the Top 75. North Florida is the highest ranked team at No. 27 followed by Middle Tennessee (32), Texas-Arlington (57), Wichita State (59), UCF (68), and South Alabama (75). Others in the field include Southern Miss, Akron, North Texas, Liberty, Florida Atlantic, Miami (OH), Charlotte, College of Charleston, Louisiana-Lafayette, Toledo, and Marquette.
Blue Raider Head Coach Whit Turnbow will take seniors Kent Bulle and Craig Smith, along with junior Jason Millard, and sophomores Hunter Green, and Brad Simons. All five golfers are ranked in the Sun Belt's top 17 in terms of scoring average, led by Bulle's 71.53 which ranks second overall. Millard is ninth at 72.36.
The Blue Raiders, seeking their first win of the spring season, had a practice round on Sunday before beginning tournament action on Monday at 6:45 AM CST.
