UNCASVILLE, Conn. - Former Middle Tennessee All-American and current WNBA player Amber Holt was traded Wednesday from the Connecticut Sun to the Tulsa Shock, along with teammate Chante Black, for a pair of draft choices.
Holt, who completed her Blue Raider career in 2008, was picked ninth overall in the WNBA Draft that season by the Sun and went on to earn All-Rookie Team honors. She averaged 6.5 points per game her first season and was one of just two rookies to start all 34 games. She then averaged 6.0 ppg in 2009 in an injury-shortened campaign.
Holt was the second Middle Tennessee player to see action in the professional league, joining Chrissy Givens' tenure with the Phoenix Mercury and Shock during the 2007 campaign. Givens, another former All-American, played for the Shock when they were still based in Detroit prior to moving to Tulsa this past offseason.
The third Blue Raider All-American, Alysha Clark, will look to become the third former MT standout in the league this summer. She is in New Jersey preparing for Thursday's WNBA Draft with most projections having her selected in the late first round or early second round.
