EUGENE, Ore. - Middle Tennessee senior Sarah Nambawa was named NCAA All-American for the fourth time in her collegiate career. Nambawa placed second overall in the triple jump with a leap of 44-9.75 (13.66m) at the 2010 NCAA Outdoor Championship in Eugene, Ore.
Nambawa's recorded mark came on her third attempt of the competition. The All-American honor ties her with Blue Raider greats Jacqui Brown and Dionne Rose for most awarded to a Middle Tennessee female with four.
In her four years in Murfreesboro, Nambawa has developed into one of the top triple and long jumpers in the NCAA. The Uganda native's career also had a highlight of a runner-up finish at the 2009 NCAA Indoor Championships. She holds school records in the indoor and outdoor triple jump as well as the indoor long jump. In addition, the Sun Belt indoor and outdoor standards in the triple jump are in her name.
Fellow senior Brittany Cox is scheduled to compete in Saturday's shot put competition at the 2010 NCAA Championships. Full results and coverage of all Middle Tennessee athletes will be available at GoBlueRaiders.com.
