Nambawa Takes Gold at African Championships

NAIROBI, Kenya -Middle Tennessee's Sarah Nambawa won the women's triple jump competition on Saturday at the 2010 CAA Safaricom African Athletics Championships in Nairobi, Kenya, recording a final mark of 45-9.25 (13.95m).
Nambawa, a four-time NCAA All-American, broke her own Middle Tennessee standard of 45-9 (13.94m), set in 2009 at the NCAA Mideast Regional Championships, to take the event in Nairobi. Her victory earns Uganda its only gold medal of the competition.
Nambawa ended her Blue Raider career at the 2010 NCAA Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Ore., in June. She placed second in the collegiate ranks with a leap of 44-9.75 (13.66m).
