Women's tennis opens fall schedule at home this weekend

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - The Middle Tennessee women's tennis team will open its fall tournament campaign by playing host to the Buck Bouldin Classic Friday and Saturday at the Buck Bouldin Tennis Center in Murfreesboro, Tenn. It marks the second year for the event.
"We are looking to forward to getting started and hosting a great event," said head coach Melissa Schaub. "The players have all been working really hard in the offseason and preparing for an outstanding season.
"This event is a great opportunity to for us to figure out where we stand against some quality regional opponents. It should be an exciting weekend for everyone involved."
The Blue Raiders return five of seven players from a year ago, including four juniors (Marietta Bigus, Taylor Coffey, Alex Dachos and Carla Nava) and one sophomore (Yuiri Nomoto). Schaub's young squad in her first year as head coach also features two newcomers.
Middle Tennessee concluded the spring dual season with an 11-10 record, its best mark since 2004. The Blue Raiders advanced to the second round of the Sun Belt Tournament.
The Buck Bouldin Tennis Classic will also feature players from Chattanooga, Murray State and Vanderbilt.
Middle Tennessee is slated to play in four fall tournaments. September 24-26 it will compete in the UL Invitational in Lafayette, La., before traveling to Chattanooga, Tenn., for the Steve Baras Fall Classic October 1-3.
The fall will conclude October 14-18 at the ITA Ohio Valley Regionals in Knoxville, Tenn.
