SPLIT, Croatia - Middle Tennessee alumna Sarah Nambawa placed sixth overall for her native Uganda at the 2010 IAAF/VTB Bank Continental Cup on Saturday in Split, Croatia, recording a final mark of 45-2.5 (13.78m).
The alumna's record mark came on her third attempt of the international competition. Kazakhstan's Olga Rypakova won the event with a leap of 50-0.5 (15.25m).
"Sarah did very well," said coach Dean Hayes. "She was competing against some of the best triple jumpers in the world, so sixth place is something to be proud of."
The four time NCAA All-American holds three Middle Tennessee jumping records, including both the indoor and outdoor triple jump standards.
Nambawa is expected to conclude her 2010 competition schedule this October in New Delhi, India at the 2010 IAAF Commonwealth Games. Full results and coverage can be found at IAAF.org and GoBlueRaiders.com.
