Smeets to coach in IBAF Baseball World Cup

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Former Blue Raider Tjerk Smeets will serve as the hitting coach for the Dutch National Team at the 2011 IBAF Baseball World Cup. The Amsterdam, Netherlands, native played for Middle Tennessee from 1999-01. Smeets has been involved with Dutch baseball both as a player and as a coach since departing from Middle Tennessee. He was a member of the Netherlands team that participated in the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing and has played in multiple tournaments with the national team. The IBAF Baseball World Cup will take place in Panama City, Panama, Oct. 2-15.
