Maina to represent MT at NCAA Championships

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Hannah Maina will represent Middle Tennessee at the NCAA Cross Country Championships in Terre Haute, Indiana at the Wabash Valley Family Sports Center tomorrow in the women's 6K race at 11 a.m.
31 teams will race in Saturday's women's championship with 31 individuals helping make the field.
Maina qualified for the race after finishing eighth overall at the NCAA South Region Championships Nov. 14. She was the only Blue Raider, man or woman, to place in the top 20 at regionals. She tallied a 19:58.40 performance on the 6K course.
In addition, Maina led the Middle Tennessee women's team to their first cross country title in program history, placing second overall in 16:50.0 on the 5K course.
The sophomore runner has been in the national spotlight before, helping Iowa Central win the National Junior College Athletic Association Cross Country Championships in 2013. Maina conquered the 5K course, taking home the individual title with her 5K time of 18:12.6.
