OXFORD, Miss. - Middle Tennessee soccer fell 4-0 at Ole Miss on Sunday night to close the weekend's action.
The Rebels got on the board early with a strike from Addie Forbus in the 18th minute to give them the 1-0 lead.
"We played well to start the match and gave up a goal against the run of play," Head Coach Aston Rhoden said.
Ole Miss capatalized on two more opportunites in the final minute before the half to hold a 3-0 lead after the first 45 minutes of play.
"It was disappointing how we gave up a second and third goal but when you play teams as good as Ole Miss it's difficult to recover from," Rhoden said.
The Rebels earned a penalty kick in the 81st minute as Gretchen Harknett put away Ole Miss' fourth goal of the game.
The Blue Raiders recorded 15 shots with five on goal. MT had six corner kicks to the Rebels four but were unable to connect off the set pieces tonight.
"We changed some things to get back in the game and it was unfortunate to give up a penalty kick late in the game. Our attention turns to WCU now where hopefully we can minimize mistakes that we made tonight," Rhoden said.
The Rebels advanced to 5-1-2 with their only loss this season coming from Louisville.
The Blue Raiders face one more road test before conference play starts as they travel to Western Carolina for a Friday match up. MT is 3-3-1 on the year and will be back at home on September 26th to host C-USA foe UTEP.
