MT comes up short against UTSA

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Middle Tennessee falls to 0-2 in Conference USA play after dropping a home match 3-0 to UTSA.
Despite outshooting the Roadrunners 16-13 in the match and taking two more corner kicks, Middle Tennessee was unable to finish a goal in the match.
UTSA recorded it's first goal off a finish by Kauwela Neal in a clutter in the six yard box in the 15th minute. The Road Runners added another goal before the half as Anissa Munson sent a ball of the Blue Raider backline for Jenny Trommer to run onto for a 30 breakaway run and finish.
UTSA put the game away in the 68th minute as Taylor Wingerden sent a cross in the air across the six yard box and Lizette Nino volleyed it in for the 3-0 win.
The Roadrunners recorded six shots on goal and were able to finish three of those opportunities. MT ended the match with five shots on goal, two of which came from strikes by center midfielder Angie Lai. Lai and Peyton McCollum recorded a team high four shots in the game.
Kelsey Brouwer picked up three saves in the match despite the loss. MT falls to 0-2 in C-USA action and 3-6-1 overall. The Blue Raiders return to the pitch on Friday, October 3rd at 7 p.m. with a road game at LA Tech.
