Blue Raiders to compete at Vanderbilt

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The Middle Tennessee track & field teams return to the state of Tennessee to compete at Vanderbilt for the second-time this indoor season Friday and Saturday in the Commodore Indoor Invitational.
MT is joined by Belmont, Lipscomb, Memphis, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, South Alabama, Tennessee, Tennessee State, UAB (women), Vanderbilt (women), Wake Forest and Western Kentucky. In total, there are 13 women's teams and 11 men's teams competing during the two-day event.
The Blue Raiders will run on the 300-meter Vanderbilt track after competing at the UAB Blazer Invitational last week for their first meet of 2015.
Middle Tennessee had a strong showing in Birmingham and excelled in the mile with freshman Geoffry Cheruiyot capturing first with his 4:12.99 performance, while Hannah Maina finished fourth for the women and led three Blue Raiders that finished in the top-10. Cheruiyot also was a member of the distance medley team with Hillary Rono, Geoffry Akena and Kyle Lutz that won the relay in 10:30.93.
Field events start competition Friday at 5 PM with the men's and women's high jump, while running events are slated to start at 7:30 p.m., with the women's 4x800 meter relay.
