Blue Raiders Fall to No. 22 Harvard

MT drops first match in San Diego
SAN DIEGO, Calif. - Middle Tennessee men's tennis fell 4-0 to No. 22 Harvard in the Blue Raiders opening match in the Hilton San Diego Spring Valley Spring Classic on Thursday.
The Blue Raiders lost the doubles point after Robin Riethmueller and Miguel Negre Fernandez fell 6-3 at the No. 3 spot and Yannick Born and Gian Issa fell in a tightly contested battle against the No. 10 doubles duo in the country 6-4.
In singles play Born dropped the No. 3 spot 6-3, 6-2, while Negre Fernandez followed with a 6-4, 6-1 loss at the No. 4 against Alex Steinroeder.
The Crimson sealed the match with 6-4, 6-2 victory from Brian Yeung over Riethmueller in the No. 5 position.
Despite the match going unfinished, Ettore Zito was able to win the first set 7-5 on the top court against 47th-nationally ranked Denis Nguyen.
Middle Tennessee will continue in the tournament with a match against No. 38 San Diego State. The Aztecs feature nationally ranked doubles pair Hendrik Jebens and Freddy Gelbrch at No. 63.
