Raiders to compete in Penn Relays & Bellarmine Classic

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – In less than a month, the Middle Tennessee track & field teams will be competing at the Conference USA Outdoor Championships, but for this weekend the Blue Raiders are headed to the Penn Relays and the Bellarmine Classic.
Two male and female field athletes and the 4x400-meter relay squad are slated to compete at the historic Penn Relays in Philadelphia. The remaining Blue Raiders will take their talents to Louisville, Ky., and the Bellarmine Classic.
John Ampomah, the reigning Conference USA Male Field Athlete of the Week, and Vincent Okot are slated to compete in the javelin and triple jump, respectively. India Hammond and Pershawna Williams will compete in the long jump and triple jump.
The women's 4x400-meter relay, which finished third at the Georgia Tech Invitational, will consist of Taylor Day, Barbara Vilson, Loveth Odia and Shaina Johnson. In addition, MT is scheduled to compete in the 4x200-meter relay.
Competition for the Penn Relays starts tomorrow through Saturday, while the Bellarmine Classic is a one-day event held Saturday.
