Raiders to compete in Sea Ray and Boston-Moon Invitationals

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The Middle Tennessee track & field teams open their weekend's competition at the Sea Ray Invitational I Knoxville, Tenn. Friday-Saturday, while also sending athletes to the Boston-Moon Invitational in Nashville, Tenn.
As a team, the Blue Raiders last competed at the Tiger Track Classic in Auburn, Ala., where Jackline Kiprono and John Ampomah each claimed records. Kiprono set the Hutsell-Rosen 3,000 meter track record, while Ampomah extended his Middle Tennessee outdoor javelin record and ranks second in the NCAA with his 76.50-meter toss (251').
Kiprono and Ampomah were honored by Conference USA and named C-USA Female Track Athlete of the Week and C-USA Male Field Athlete of the Week, respectively.
In addition to the duo's success, Vincent Okot bounded 15.98-meters (52' 1.75") in the triple jump for second place. The distance was Okot's personal-best and ranks 10th in the NCAA this year.
