EUGENE, Ore. – Atsu Nyamadi closed out the 2015 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championship for Middle Tennessee with the final five events in the decathlon at Hayward Field.
"We had a good meet with John (Ampomah) and Atsu (Nyamadi)," said head coach Dean Hayes. "They put it all out there."
After two days, the Blue Raiders have amassed eight points and are tied for 11th with Penn State, Arkansas, Kent State and Arizona.
"You can't fault him for how he (Atsu) performed today," said head coach Dean Hayes. "There are some little things he can do to help him with his scores in the future, but he put forth a great effort and that is all you can ask."
Nyamadi notched a career-best 7,567 points in the decathlon and broke his own Middle Tennessee record.
The Accra, Ghana native started Thursday with the 110-meter hurdles and finished 12th in 15.08 seconds.
In the discus, Nyamadi claimed his highest finish of the day, placing third with a 44.10-meter (144' 8") throw. Following the discus, the junior competed in the pole vault and javelin, finishing 16th (4.00m/13' 1.5") and fourth (58.86m/193' 1"), respectively.
The 1,500 meter marked the final event of the decathlon and Nyamadi finished ninth in 4:33.05, helping push him into the top 10.
Nyamadi earned second-team All-American accolades with his ninth-place finish in the decathlon.
