MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The Middle Tennessee soccer team will close out this season's non-conference play when the team travels to Mercer on Sept. 18.
The Blue Raiders (4-2-1) are coming off of a 0-1-1 weekend in which they tied Lipscomb, 2-2, on Sept. 10 and fell at Murray State, 2-0, on Sunday.
Against the Lady Bisons, defenders Emily Jorgenson and Taylor Kirk both tallied goals off of corner kicks. LU's Maycie McKay was able to earn the tie after netting her second goal of the match in the 66'.
MT had a more difficult time against the Racers as MSU outshot the Blue Raiders, 19-11. Murray State had 13 chances in the first half and led 1-0 at halftime – a deficit that proved too much to overcome for MT.
Mercer currently sits at 2-4-2, but just defeated C-USA member UAB, 5-1, on Sept. 13. Prior to that offensive outburst, the Bears did not tally a goal for three straight contests and went into double overtime in each.
Friday's matchup will mark the fourth C-USA opponent for MU this season. In addition to besting UAB, the Bears defeated Charlotte, 2-1, on Aug. 28 and fell to WKU, 1-0, on Sept. 11.
Kickoff for Friday's contest is scheduled for 6:45 p.m. CT.
