Upshaw Earns C-USA Spirit of Service Award

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Conference USA Commissioner Judy MacLeod named 14 C-USA student-athletes as recipients of the Winter Spirit of Service Award today. Junior Reggie Upshaw was announced as Middle Tennessee's representative by the conference office.
The Spirit of Service Award recognizes the community service efforts of student-athletes from Conference USA's member institutions based on their public service, academic standing and athletic participation.
The award is presented three times throughout each season, providing each member institution with three honorees per year.
The Winter Spirit of Service Award recognizes student-athletes from men's and women's basketball, women's swimming and diving, and men's and women's indoor track and field.
Upshaw was nominated to the 2016 Allstate Good Works Team before earning the C-USA Spirit of Service award.
The Chattanooga, Tennessee, native was named MVP of the 2016 C-USA Championship and was an All-Conference USA third-team selection for the Blue Raiders.
The 6-foot-7 forward led the Blue Raiders offensively with 21 points in Middle's NCAA Tournament win against No. 2 seed Michigan State.
Upshaw is an exercise science major and member of the MTSU Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
He has volunteered with a number of events, including the C-USA Let's SAAC Hunger food drive, Special Olympics, Omega Basketball Camp, Camp Abilities for Special Need and Read Across America.
