Named Defensive Player of the Week
MURFREESBORO – Middle Tennessee defensive back Mike Minter was named the Tennessee Sportswriters Association Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday as announced by the organization.
Minter posted eight tackles, six solo, with three pass breakups and a fumble recovery in a come-from-behind 38-34 win against Louisiana Tech on Saturday.
The Atlanta, Ga., native's fumble recovery inside the Middle Tennessee 10-yard line in the first quarter stopped the Bulldogs' momentum after the visitors already held a 7-0 advantage.
The junior cornerback posted two of his three pass breakups in the final seconds of the game, including on Louisiana Tech's final play from the Blue Raiders' four-yard line.
Minter enters play this week ranked seventh on the team in tackles with 17 while sharing the team lead with four pass breakups.
