MT Suffers Narrow Setback at Home

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee fell twice this weekend, losing on the road at Wisconsin, 7-0, and suffering a narrow defeat, 4-3, to Western Michigan at home on Sunday.
The Badgers won doubles to earn an early lead heading into singles play. In singles, Wisconsin won four matches in straight sets, though Nicolas Buitrago Machado took his first set to a tiebreak. Luis Morillo Diaz and Max Rauch both saw their matches go to third sets, but the Badgers finished off those matches to make the final score 7-0.
On Sunday against Western Michigan, MT took the 1-0 lead into singles, as Tom Moonen and Gonzalo Morell Raschiatore won at No. 1 doubles, followed by a win at No. 3 from Buitrago and Rauch.
The Broncos then reeled off four consecutive singles wins to clinch the win before Moonen and Morell won their singles matches in third sets at the top of the MT lineup.
MT will be on the road for 10 consecutive matches, starting with a trip to Drake on Feb. 12, before returning to the Adams Tennis Complex on March 31 for the MT Shootout. The Blue Raiders also host the Conference USA Championships on April 21-23 at the ATC.
