Cross Country Readies for Final Regular Season Contest
10/12/2018 11:00:00 AM | Men's Cross Country and Track & Field, Women's Cross Country and Track & Field, Track & Field/Cross Country
The Middle Tennessee Cross Country teams make the furthest trip so far this year when they travel to the Lone Star State for the Arturo Barrios Invitational. This will be the final race prior to the conference meet so the Blue Raiders may be looking to fine tune their race strategy this weekend. Follow @MT_TrackField for updates.
Race Details
Arturo Barrios Invitational (Hosted by Texas A&M)
Dale Watts cross country course, College Station, TX
October 13, 2018th
Course Preview
The two courses are drawn similar to each other. The runners will start on the long straightaway before running a loop around the main field. After completing that loop, the runners cut off part of the first loop and finish running half of that lap. The only difference between the women's 6K and the men's 8K is a few extra turns to get the extra 2K on the men's course. The surface is almost all grass and with the long straightaways (especially near the finish) could lead to some dramatic finishes.
Historically Speaking
This will be the Blue Raiders' first appearance in a race at Texas A&M.
Last Time Out
All five runners from the Men's team posted personal best times with freshman Caden Hercules leading the team at 26:13.3 on the 8K course. Pamela Kosgei was the first freshman finisher in her third straight race as the paced the women's squad with a time of 17:08.0 on the 5K course.

The Outlook
"I'm excited to race against some different teams and see how we stack up against some teams from other regions," said Head Coach Keith Vroman. "This weekend, we'll get a chance to see conference teams like North Texas, Rice, and UTSA. We'll also get to see some high-level SEC teams, so we should get a good notion of where we are in the conference and region."
