MT Clinches Spot in C-USA Tournament with win at UAB

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Middle Tennessee soccer team clinched a spot in the C-USA Tournament on Saturday night with a 1-0 win over UAB. The Blazers and Raiders battled for 86 scoreless minutes before Preseason Player of the Year, Peyton DePriest recorded her 11th goal of the season to give MT the late win. Hannah Tillett slotted her a pass and DePriest connected for a low hard shot into the far post. The Raiders improve to 10-6-1 , 5-4-1 and secured 16 points in conference play.

3' – CHANCE (MT) – Taylor Hatch took the first chance of the game as she streaked up the sideline but the UAB goalie deflected it for a save.
7' – CHANCE (UAB) – The Blazers pushed forward and crossed in a ball, Kamilah Mustafa got the shot off but luckily for the Raiders it hit the crossbar.
10'- CHANCE (UAB) – Jamiera Lunsford gets a through ball but her shot goes high over the net.
16' – CHANCE (MT) – The Blue Raiders looked to take the lead after Peyton DePriest received a through ball but her initial shot was saved by the UAB keeper and her follow-up shot went high.
30' – CHANCE (UAB) – The Blazers win a free kick near the top of the box. Caroline Kehrer gets her head on the end of it and luckily for MT the shot goes wide left.
35' – CHANCE (UAB) – Lunsford gets her head on the end of the corner kick but the ball sails high to keep the game in a scoreless draw.
40' – CHANCE (MT) – Gwen Breslin gets the ball and creates space for herself with a spin move. She takes a shot but the UAB keeper is able to collect it on the goal line.
42' – SAVE (MT) – UAB crosses the ball into the box and scrums for the ball with the Raider defense. Celeste Barnard and Sydney Navarro are able to block shots and clear the ball to keep the Blazers off the board.
49'- CHANCE (MT) – Peyton DePriest gets the ball with space and takes a shot but it goes just wide of the far post.
50' – CHANCE (MT) – Carolin Engelhard finds the ball at her feet following a corner kick but her shot is blocked in the box by the UAB defense.
61' – CHANCE (MT) – Carolin Engelhard looks to give MT the lead as she has an open look at net near the top of the box but the UAB keeper makes a diving save to keep the game even, 0-0.
63' – CHANCE (UAB) – The Blazers cross the ball to Caroline Kehrer who takes a shot by Sydney Navarro gets there to block it at the top of the box.
69' – CHANCE (MT) – Peyton DePriest ran with a ball into open space and took a shot from the top of the box but it crashed into a defender's back to keep the game scoreless.
87' – GOAL (MT) Peyton DePriest comes up big for the Blue Raiders late in the match. The sophomore slots the ball into the far corner of the net off a through ball from Hannah Tillett.
