MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – With a 27-3 win over UAB Saturday on senior day, Middle Tennessee clinched its first Conference USA East Division title and berth in the Globe Life Conference USA Championship Game.
UAB will travel to Murfreesboro for the conference title bout on Dec. 1, scheduled for a 12:30 p.m. kickoff, and fans are encouraged to purchase their tickets for what will be a thrilling end to the C-USA season.
"It's the first time we've hosted a conference championship, so it's vitally important to get our fans here," Middle Tennessee Director of Athletics Chris Massaro said. "We encourage everybody in our Middle Tennessee community to go online and buy a ticket. It's going to be a great Saturday here in Murfreesboro."
Not only will the Blue Raiders get to play for their first C-USA crown, but they'll get to do it in front of their fans at Floyd Stadium.
It'll be the first time MT has ever hosted a conference championship game, and tickets are available at goblueraiders.com/tickets or at the Blue Raider Ticket Office, located at Gate 1A of Floyd Stadium, between 8 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Monday-Friday. Tickets will also be available on the Murphy Center concourse during the Nov. 29 Lady Raider women's basketball game.
Sideline tickets will be $24, and end zone tickets will be $18. Fans will have the option of selecting Text Tickets to get their tickets delivered straight to a smartphone.
"We are so thrilled to host the C-USA football championship game next weekend and love the excitement that we are seeing from all Blue Raider fans," MT Assistant Athletic Director of Ticket Operations James Kentfield said. "I would encourage all fans to select Text Tickets as their method of delivery when purchasing online to get their tickets delivered directly to their smartphone."
Middle Tennessee goes into the title game on a roll with five wins in its last six games and five wins in a row over conference foes.
Saturday's win over UAB was also MT's seventh in a row at home. Having the chance to host the conference championship will hopefully prove to be a big advantage.
"We take great pride in playing at home," head coach Rick Stockstill said after Saturday's win. "We try to represent our fans, our community and our university. Hopefully that will provide an advantage for us … and we'll hopefully have a packed stadium Saturday."
The Blue Raiders beat the Blazers 27-3 Saturday on the strength of their defense, which held UAB to 89 total yards and forced a season-high seven team sacks.
With a conference title on the line, the rematch is bound to be a heavyweight fight inside Floyd Stadium.
"We're all excited for the chance to play next week," redshirt senior quarterback and Murfreesboro native Brent Stockstill said. "Every player's dream is to win a championship … and we're excited for the opportunity and excited for the challenge."
