MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The Blue Raiders started the Nick McDevitt era off on the right foot on Tuesday night with a 91-69 win over Lees-McRae and are back in action Friday morning as they host the Milligan Buffaloes at 11 a.m. on Rutherford County Schools Day.
Antonio Green led the team last time out with 24 points while Reggie Scurry, James Hawthorne, and Donavan Sims all finished in double figures. Scurry dominated the post with 19 points and 11 rebounds as the junior collected a double-double in his MT debut.
As a team, the Blue Raiders did a good job of taking high-percentage shots with 54 of their points coming in the paint as the team shot 55.9 percent from the field. Free throw shooting was also stellar with the team going 20-22 (90.9 percent) from the line.
"It's still really early, but I do like when we're moving the ball what our team looks like, particularly on the offense," McDevitt stated after an efficient shooting night against Lees-McRae.
The NAIA season comes fast and furious, and for the Milligan Buffaloes, that means playing five games in two weeks.
After losing their season opener, Milligan comes to Murfreesboro on a four game win streak. Aaron Levarity is the leading scorer so far for the Buffaloes averaging 21.4 points per game. His 77 rebounds also lead the team and no other player has more than 25.
