Vanderbilt transfer has five semesters of eligibility remaining
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee Head Men's Golf Coach Mark McEntire has announced the addition of Vanderbilt transfer Cooper Sears, who will join the Blue Raiders in January to begin competing in the spring semester.
Sears, a Mount Juliet native and graduate of Mount Juliet High School, saw limited time for a talented Commodores squad during his tenure on West End.
"We are glad to welcome Cooper to the family," McEntire said. "He had an outstanding junior golf career and was one of the top players in Tennessee entering Vanderbilt."
Sears made multiple appearances for the Commodores including their home tournament, the Mason Rudolph Championship. The sophomore also earned a spot in the 5-man lineup for Vanderbilt at the Los Cabos Quarencia in Los Cabos, Mexico.
After spending three semesters at Vanderbilt, Sears will have two and a half seasons of eligibility remaining for the Blue Raiders beginning in January and will add invaluable experience to a roster that includes three true freshmen.
"I look for Cooper to provide this team with experience and be a leader for us both on and off the course," McEntire added.
The Blue Raiders and their new addition open the spring slate at the Pat Hicks Thunderbird Invitational in St. George, Utah on Feb. 11-12.
