JONESBOROUGH, Tenn.- Junior Stanley White led the way for the Blue Raiders on day two of the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate, catapulting himself up the leaderboard with a four-under 68 day. This marks his lowest score at the Division I level
White now sits four-under through two rounds for the Blue Raiders, who overall are sitting ninth in the team field for the second straight day. The Englishman rode a strong back nine to bring home a red number, with four straight birdies from hole 12 through 15.
Tied with White is Maddox Crowder, who led the Blue Raiders through round one of the tournament yesterday with a 69. Crowder kept himself under-par yet again, with a 71 stroke round. The sophomore's round was highlighted by an eagle on hole 14.
Clay Pendergrass had a bounce back day for the Blue Raiders, climbing 16 positions with a two-under 70 on his scorecard. The Richmond, Kentucky native sat at par on every hole through the front nine, and tallied three birdies on the back.
Connor Henry and Oliver Baker round out the Blue Raiders competing for the team, with a 73 and 75 respectively. Henry now sits one-over for the tournament, while Baker is six-over with his second straight day of three-over golf.
Stiles Hunter had a very solid day as the lowest-scoring of the three Blue Raider individuals, turning in a career-low round with a 69. The three-under round was fueled by a birdie-eagle-birdie stretch to close out the front nine.
Jake Hopper shot even par for the second consecutive day. The back-to-back 72 stroke rounds leave him sitting T53 heading into day three. Cooper Solberg rounds out the Blue Raiders to make the trip to Jonesborough, finishing nine-over on the day. Solberg had five birdies, but five bogeys and three double bogeys dug the sophomore into a sizable hole.
Coach's Comments (Head Coach Mark McEntire)
"Great round today from Stanley White," McEntire said. "68 was fantastic! There was another solid comeback from Clay Pendergrass and another good round from Maddox Crowder. We're still looking for the four and five scores to improve and we will work on that this off season. Our team is going to try and improve some tomorrow and finish the fall off on a high note."
Next Up: The Blue Raiders will tee off their final round of the fall tomorrow morning from the Blackthorn Club in Jonesborough, Tennessee. Oliver Baker will lead things off for the Blue Raiders from the first tee at 8:30 a.m. CT.
