MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Despite meeting the Rockets for the sixth time in the history of the two programs, the Blue Raiders make their first trip to Toledo on Saturday in hopes of extending a three-game winning streak in the series and snapping their current losing skid.
Middle Tennessee (3-7) has seen Karl Gamble emerge as a more consistent threat as the 6-foot-9 forward has worked his way into the starting line-up the last two times out.
In his second start, Gamble scored nine points and brought down nine rebounds against Murray State. The senior leads the team in rebounding at 7.2 per game while also contributing just south of nine points per outing
Toledo (9-1) enters this weekend riding a seven-game winning streak after an overtime road win at Conference USA foe Marshall and ranks as one of the best shooting teams in the country, currently standing ninth nationally in free throw percentage (.794) and 14th in three-pointers per game (10.4).
Jalen Sanford and Nate Navigato average a combined 5.3 triples per game and play a big role in a powerful offense that features five Rockets averaging double figures.
The Blue Raiders are 4-1 in the all-time series with the lone loss coming in overtime at the 2006 Paradise Jam in St. Thomas.
Tip-off between the Blue Raiders and Rockets is set for 6 pm CT and fans can watch live on ESPN+.
