LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Middle Tennessee women's basketball team gears up for a Saturday afternoon contest, versing the Kentucky Wildcats in the Memorial Coliseum.
Tale of the Tape: Middle Tennessee and Georgia State
MT and Kentucky meet for the 20th time with the Wildcats holding a 14-5 series lead. Meanwhile, the Lady Raiders are 1-9 against Kentucky in Lexington and three of Middle Tennessee's wins have come under the helm of head coach, Rick Insell, who is 3-7 against the Wildcats.
Scouting Kentucky
The Wildcats enter Saturday's contest with a 9-1 record, after dropping its first game of the season to Louisville (75-80), last weekend.
Taylor Murray leads the Kentucky team in scoring, hitting 55-of-103 from the field (.534) and ranks third with an average of 15.1 points per game. From downtown, Rhyne Howard has knocked down 26-of-52 from the arc, boasting a .500 3-point percentage.
Similarly, Howard is the Wildcat's leading rebounder, averaging 7.2 rebounds per contest.
Sutton Earns USBWA Freshman of the Week honors
Freshman Taylor Sutton was named the United States Basketball Writers Association (WSBWA) National Freshman of the Week following her efforts at Troy.
Sutton joined teammate Anna Jones as the only Lady Raiders to be named USBWA Freshman of the Week. The freshman earned the national honors after scoring a career-best 25 points in MT's comeback win at Troy.
