MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee Head Coach Aston Rhoden announced the addition of one more signee to the 2019 soccer squad. Ida Forsberg, a goalkeeper from Solleftea, Sweden, is set to join the Blue Raiders next fall.
"Ida is a very technical and competent keeper," said Rhoden. "She is strong in the air, has good hands, and plays well with her feet. She will certainly make our goal keeping position even stronger this upcoming year."
Forsberg played two seasons for the club team Sundsvalls DFF under Head Coach Mattias Nylund and has also played for the club team Remsle UIF FF. She had an 82% save percentage playing with SDFF and led the team to the quarterfinals of the 2018 Gothia Cup, one of the most prestigious youth tournaments in Europe.
Forsberg also has numerous honors and awards in her career that include Best Player Born in the Year 2000, Keeper of the Year (2014-16), Athletic Person of the Year (2016), Best Player of the Year (2015), Most Valuable Player (2015) and Most Promising Athlete (2014). She has also won three awards at Entrepreneur Fairs and three Academic Scholarship awards at her high school, Sundsvalls Gymnasium.
Forsberg will join the six other Middle Tennessee signees to round out the 2019 signing class. The group of seven will make their way to MT this coming fall while the rest of the Blue Raiders return to the pitch next year for spring practices.
