NEW YORK, N.Y. – The Middle Tennessee women's basketball bounced back from their 55-72 loss at No. 18 Kentucky, downing Big South competitor UNC Asheville (67-46) on Thursday, Dec. 20 in the Murphy Center. The Lady Raiders now gear up for the second tournament of the season at the Fordham Holiday Classic in New York.
First up, the team will compete against in-state foe, Chattanooga, in their first game of the classic on Saturday, Dec. 29 at 2:00p.m. Depending on the result, Middle Tennessee will round of their time in New York competing against Fordham or Maine on Sunday afternoon.

A'Queen Hayes' career night powered Middle Tennessee past the visiting UNC Asheville Bulldogs 67-46 Thursday.
The senior guard tied her season high in points in the first half with 21, then finished it off with 10 more after the break to end with a career-high 31 on 13-of-22 shooting and 3-of-4 from 3-point range. She's now just 12 points away from 1,000 in her career.
Hayes added a team-high eight rebounds to her career-high 31 points, while senior Alex Johnson finished with 16 points on 7-of-10 shooting, six rebounds, four assists and three steals. She's now just four points shy of 10th place on MT's all-time scoring list.

The Blue Raiders will open conference play in the new year, traveling to Florida for the team's first Conference USA games of the season. Middle Tennessee will open their slate in Miami, competing against FIU on Thursday, Jan. 3 before rounding off their weekend against Florida Atlantic on Saturday, Jan. 5.
