Crump to miss remainder of 2018-19 season

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Head men's basketball coach Nick McDevitt has announced that Middle Tennessee will be without freshman guard Anthony Crump for the remainder of the 2018-19 season due to a knee injury.
McDevitt's announcement came in Saturday night's post-game press conference following the Blue Raiders' contest against Murray State in which Crump was inactive.
"Obviously, that is a blow to what is already a short bench," McDevitt said. "That's a guy that's 6-foot-8 with some length and can help our team and now he's not an option anymore."
The 6-foot-8 rookie will undergo surgery to repair the injury in the coming weeks and is expected to return to the Blue Raiders fully healthy for the 2019-20 season.
Having played only nine contests this season, the Blue Raiders will pursue a medical hardship waiver for Crump following the season that would preserve four years of remaining eligibility.
"He's in good spirits, but he's obviously disappointed because he's been playing a lot of minutes and understands he had an opportunity to play a lot this year and gain great experience as a true freshman," McDevitt added. "Having that injury is disappointing for him, I know, but he'll be able to bounce back strong."
Crump was averaging 2.2 points and 2.4 rebounds in 17.2 minutes per game this season and collected 11 assists in his nine outings.
