Raiders aiming to get back in the win column
Match Notes
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Gian Issa is looking to keep his undefeated singles record alive and the Blue Raiders are going for their eighth doubles point of the season as Middle Tennessee (8-2) travels to Wichita State on Saturday.
Issa leads MT with a 10-0 record in singles dual matches and has a 20-2 mark since the start of the 2017 fall season. The senior has moved up to ninth all-time in singles wins with 75 for his career. In doubles action, Tom Moonen and Chris Edge are 8-1 at the top spot in the lineup and are ranked No. 48 in the country by the ITA. Gonzalo Morell Raschiatore and Miguel Negre Fernandez are 5-0 in doubles this season.
The doubles point will prove to be critical against Wichita State (1-4), as the Shockers have claimed the first point in a match on four occasions so far this year. Despite the lopsided record in the early part of the season, Wichita State has faced a challenging schedule, dropping two matches to SEC opponents and falling to Utah and Cornell.
Marius Frosa and Murkel Dellien leads the charge in doubles for the Shockers. The pair was ranked at No. 27 in the country before falling out of the rankings in the most recent poll. Both the Blue Raiders and Shockers are coming off 4-3 losses to Power 5 opponents, as Arkansas clipped Wichita State on Feb. 3.
