FINAL RESULTS
FRANKLIN, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee concluded play at the 2018 Mason Rudolph Championship Sunday with an eighth place finish. The tournament was held at the Vanderbilt Legends Club South Course which is a par-71, 7,100-yard setup.
The Blue Raiders shot a final round 292 for a 54-hole total of 895. Play was canceled on Saturday due to heavy rain but players battled a wet, windy and cold course on Sunday.
Host Vanderbilt had a final round 278 to win the event by three strokes over Alabama. Liberty was third and Florida came in fourth.
Chip Thomas led the Blue Raiders on Sunday with an even par round of 71 that included four birdies. Thomas, who tied for third in the field with an even par score on the par 3s, tied for 15th overall at 6-over par.
James Beckner turned in a 1-over par 72 in the final round with three birdies. The junior tied for 29th at 10-over par and tied for third in the field in par 3 scoring at even par.
Marcus Byrd tied for 35th at 12-over par after carding a 74 on Sunday, while Tyler Johnson tied for 57th. Johnson was 16-over par after registering a 75 on Sunday.
Ilari Saulo tied for 70th following a final round 77 and Tanner Owens also tied for 70th with a 76 on Sunday.
The Blue Raiders will now head to the Conference USA Championship that begins Sunday in Texarkana, AR.
