Blue Raiders tied with UAB for tourney lead

Shoot 3-under par 285 in round two
RESULTS
TEXARKANA, AR –Middle Tennessee turned in the second-best round of the day with a 285 to move into a tie for first place after round two of the Conference USA Championship. The tournament is being held at the Texarkana Country Club, a par 72 with a length of 6,935 yards.
The top four teams advance to match play on Wednesday.
The Blue Raiders are tied with UAB after the Blazers turned in a 6-over par round of 294. Both have a cumulative score of 582 which is four shots better than third place Rice and seven ahead of fourth place UTSA and North Texas.
"It was another good round for us today," said Head Coach Brennan Webb. "The conditions were a little easier today and I was happy to see us take advantage. Our guys have been in a great frame of mind all week. Staying patient, sticking to the game plan and showing the discipline that is required to be successful on this course. I am looking forward to more of the same tomorrow."
The Blue Raiders had three players shoot under par on Monday with junior Marcus Byrd leading the way with a 2-under 70. Byrd, who had four birdies on the day, is tied for fifth overall at even par. He also leads the entire field in par 3 scoring at 1-under.
Sophomore Chip Thomas is also tied for fifth overall at even par following a 1-under par 71 in round two. Thomas, who also had four birdies on the day, had it to 3-under through seven holes.
Junior James Beckner carded a 1-under 71 Monday and is tied for 12th overall. Beckner, who shares the tournament lead in par 5 scoring at 5-under, is +2 for the tournament after registering four birdies of his own in round two.
Redshirt freshman Tyler Johnson had a 73 on Monday and is tied for 18th. Johnson is +4 for the tournament.
Senior Hoyeong Kim is tied for 32nd after posting a 76 in round two.
The Blue Raiders continue to dominate the field in par 5 scoring with a tournament best score of 15-under par which is six shots better than second place ODU and UAB.
The Blue Raiders will begin final round play Tuesday morning at 9:20 AM and will be paired with UAB and Rice.
