Raiders set for Raleigh Regional

RALEIGH, NC – After capturing its first-ever Conference USA Championship on April 25, the Middle Tennessee golf team heads to its eighth NCAA Regional in the last 11 years. The Blue Raiders will begin play in the Raleigh Regional on Monday as an 11 seed.
Middle Tennessee will be one of 14 teams participating in the regional hosted by NC State. The low five teams will advance to the NCAA National Championships at Karsten Creek Golf Club in Stillwater, Oklahoma, May 25 - 30.
The field will be made up of #4 Georgia Tech, #9 California, #16 Texas, #21 Arizona State, #28 Duke, #36 NC State, #40 Liberty, #45 Missouri, #52 Santa Clara, #56 Campbell, #74 Middle Tennessee, #111 Augusta, #198 Davidson, and #268 Iona.
"We have a great opportunity ahead of us and everyone is anxious to get going," said Head Coach Brennan Webb. "We have prepared well and are very confident. The course is one that we are familiar with and one that fits our game. It will be a challenge but one we welcome."
The 54-hole tournament will take place at the Lonnie Poole Golf Course which is a par 71 that plays to 7,273 yards. The Blue Raiders played the course in April 2017 where they finished seventh at the Wolfpack Spring Open.
The Blue Raiders' lineup will be led by junior Marcus Byrd. Byrd, who won both his match play contests at the C-USA Championships, will be playing in his second Division I NCAA Regional. Redshirt freshman Tyler Johnson, sophomore Chip Thomas, junior James Beckner and senior Hoyeong Kim will complete the lineup.
The Blue Raiders will get things started Monday morning at 8:55 AM ET off the 10th tee. MT will be paired with Campbell and Augusta.
