MT takes the series over UAB

BIRMINGHAM Ala. – The Blue Raiders (27-27-1, 12-17-1) used a couple of big innings to beat UAB (21-31, 13-17) in the rubber match and final game of the season by a score of 11-5.
MT scored the first run of the game for the third consecutive time when Aaron Aucker picked up an RBI on a ground out scoring Austin Dennis.
After UAB grabbed a run in the bottom of the third, Middle Tennessee came out swinging in the fourth inning.
Austin Dennis picked up the first of his three RBI's when he bunted to score Myles Christian. Senior Ryan Kemp followed with an RBI single to right field to score LA Woodard. Kemp improved his hitting streak to 21 games which is the longest by a Blue Raider this season.
Aaron Aucker had the big hit in the inning, smashing a three-run home run to left field. Aucker finished the season leading the team in home runs (15) and RBI's (71). Aucker's RBI total was also the leading tally in all of Conference USA by a margin of 12.
Freshman Peyton Wigginton earned his second win of the season, going five innings, giving up just four hits and striking out three.
The Blue Raiders would once again have a big inning this time in the seventh. Junior Austin Dennis drove in three runs on a double over the center fielder's head. Dennis finished the game with two hits, and two runs scored to go along with his four RBI's.
MT won four of their five road series this season, the only road series loss coming against Southern Miss.
The Blue Raiders finished the season in ninth place, just missing the C-USA tournament.
