MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – First-year Middle Tennessee Head Baseball Coach Jim Toman has announced the hiring of assistant Blake Hunt.
Hunt will serve as the hitting coach for the Blue Raiders.
"I am excited to announce the hiring of Blake Hunt as our hitting coach," says Toman. "Coach Hunt is a rising star in the college game and is the right guy to lead our hitters. I have had the chance to watch Coach Hunt work on my staff before and know that the players are going to love his energy on the field. Coach Hunt will also be a very dynamic recruiter for the Blue Raiders."
Hunt brings with him six years of coaching experience, two of those as an assistant for Toman at Liberty.
"I'm excited to be at Middle Tennessee State and to be a part of the Blue Raider family. I'm ready to get to work with Coach Toman who has a great track record of winning," said Hunt.
Hunt spent the last four seasons as an assistant coach with the Liberty Flames, where he worked with catchers, hitters, and was responsible for field maintenance. Hunt also served as the Flames' first base coach.
In 2014, Hunt was a voluntary assistant at Spalding University. He was the Golden Eagle's hitting coach and worked with the team's catchers.
Hunt began his coaching career as a student assistant at Charleston Southern. As a four year player for the Buccaneers, Hunt played in 107 games and in his senior season, hit .289 and .327 in Big South Conference Play.
"I'm ready to meet all of the players and to get things rolling," Hunt said.
