8/22/2018 2:00:00 PM | Women's Soccer
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - A close, 1-0 loss in the season opener last week was made right when Middle Tennessee won their first home game, 5-3, over Belmont two days later. The Blue Raiders trip starts on Thursday, Aug. 23 with a match against North Florida that's set to kick off at 6 p.m. CT and can be viewed live on Facebook. On Sunday, Aug. 26 MT will travel west for an 11 a.m. match against nationally ranked Florida State. Fans can get live updates on Twitter (@MT_Soccer) for both games.

Scouting the Ospreys
North Florida spent last weekend in Charleston, S.C., facing College of Charleston and The Citadel in their first two matches of the season. The Ospreys lost both contests, 3-0 to C of C and 3-2 to The Citadel. Last year's leading goal scorer, Thais Reiss, owns one of the team's two goals. However, freshman Kendra Hoffman has played a big role in the UNF attack so far. Through the first two games, Hoffman has the most shots on goal and an assist.
Series history
This is the first meeting between Middle Tennessee and North Florida.
Scouting the Seminoles
Florida State has posted two clean sheets in their first two matches, and even more impressive is that freshman keeper Brooke Bollinger has only had to make three saves. The Seminoles stingy defense only allowed three total shots in the first two games, and even if that trend doesn't continue, their attack has had similar success with six goals so far. Kristina Lynch leads the team with two goals in the first two games, but four other Seminoles have scored as well.
Series History
The Seminoles lead the series 2-0-0, with the most recent meeting taking place in 2016 in Murfreesboro. FSU won that game 3-0 in front of over 1,000 fans at the Dean A. Hayes Track & Soccer Stadium.
Players to watch
Hannah Tillett – The freshman has played beyond her age in the Blue Raiders' first two matches. Tillett leads the team with six points because of her two goals and two assists in the home opener against Belmont.
Maddison Falter – After missing the season opener, the Murfreesboro native made a statement in her first game as a Blue Raider, scoring two goals and assisting on a third. Both of Falter's goals came in the first 20 minutes of the game.
Casey Riemer – One of the few Blue Raiders to play all 180 minutes this season, Riemer has helped to anchor the MT defense. The junior had several key clearances in each of the first two matches and even registered a shot on goal in the Belmont game.
By the Numbers
5 – MT scored five goals in the win over Belmont, the most goals in one game since 2016
1,200 – The Blue Raiders will travel approximately 1,200 miles on the trip to Florida this weekend.
22 – A total of 22 players have seen the field in MT's first two games. This already tops last year's mark of 21 players seeing action in the 2017 season.
