DePriest Named C-USA Preseason Offensive Player of the Year

IRVING, Texas – Sophomore forward Peyton DePriest has been name Preseason Offensive Player of the year as well as to the Preseason All-Conference USA Team ahead of the 2018 season, as announced by the C-USA office Monday.
Middle Tennessee is picked to finish eighth in the league while Rice was chosen to win the C-USA crown.
Head Coach Aston Rhoden returns a strong set of players led by DePriest. The 2017 C-USA Freshman of the Year and Second Team selection is poised to pick up where she left off.
DePriest started all 18 games in her freshman campaign and led the Raiders in nearly every offensive category. She also stacked up amongst the league's best offensively, leading C-USA in goals (13), goals per game (.722) and points per game (1.61). DePriest's points (29) was also good for second-most in C-USA. Not only did DePriest make a splash in C-USA but she made a splash nationally, tying for second-most goals by a freshman in the nation. She also registered three assists last year.
The C-USA Preseason Poll and All-Conference Teams were voted on by the league's coaches.
Middle Tennessee will begin the regular season on Friday, Aug. 17 at 7 p.m. when the Raiders travel to take on Austin Peay. Then MT opens the season at home on Sunday, Aug. 19 at 6 p.m., taking on Belmont in the Dean A. Hayes Track & Soccer Stadium.
