IRVING, Texas – The Middle Tennessee soccer team picked up its third C-USA Player of the Week honor this week after besting preseason favorite, Rice, 3-2 in overtime last Thursday. Peyton DePriest has been named C-USA Co-Offensive Player of the Week by the conference office. This is DePriest's first career Player of the Week award.
DePriest, the Preseason C-USA Offensive Player of the Year, had a big role in the Blue Raiders 3-2 double overtime victory over Rice. DePriest played a part in all three of MT's scores notching two goals and an assist. Her second goal of the game came in the 104th minute and was the golden goal game winner as she stole the ball near the 18 yard box and caught the Owl goalkeeper out of position, slotting it past her easily. DePriest picked up five points in the win and took four shots. She now has four goals, two assists and 10 points on the year in just three games for the Blue Raiders.
"It's good having Peyton back after some early season injuries," said Head Coach Aston Rhoden. "I'm glad the league recognized her work this past weekend with this award".
Marah Abu-Tayeh of Marshall was the other Co-Offensive Player of the Week after tallying five points in two games.
With the victory, the Blue Raiders improved to 6-2-1 on the season and 1-0-1 in conference play.
MT is slated to return to the field on Sunday, Sept. 30 at 6 p.m. to take on UTEP in El Paso, Texas.
