MURFREESBORO, TN - The Blue Raiders hosted the Coach Short/LaLance Shootout over the weekend and saw three newcomers make their Murfreesboro debuts. Pavel Motl, Francisco Rocha, and Daniel Stormon all competed at the Adams Tennis Complex for the first time along with juinor Max Rauch.
Stormon went a perfect 5-0 on the weekend, including his comeback singles victory over George Wong of Lipscomb. Stormon trailed 2-5 in the final set, but came back to win 7-6. Max Rauch also went undefeated in singles and played a challenging doubles lineup with Pavel Motl. Overall, the Blue Raiders finished the weekend with a 14-4 combined record including a 6-0 record on the final day.
Coach's Comments
"What a great weekend," said Head Coach Jimmy Borendame. "The guys played well and have really improved from our first fall event two weeks ago. What's more, we had a great time with so many tennis alumni coming back into town to honor Daniel Klemetz, David McNamara and and Julius Robberts. Overall, this was just a great weekend for MT Tennis and MT Athletics."
Looking Ahead
Three Blue Raiders are still competing in the ITA All-American in Tulsa, Oklahoma. After that, the Blue Raiders' next event will be the ITA Regional Championships in Knoxville, Tennessee beginning on October 11th.
